Pump Control
Innovation
Before Retroflo
After Retroflo
Retroflo
is an innovative intelligent pump control system offering optimal
sewage pumping performance resulting in improved efficiencies and
greater operational reliability which in turn help water companies
meet needs for energy savings and reduced operating expenditure (OPEX).
Working closely with Northumbrian Water on investment and
operational issues Byzak adopted a new approach for managing the
complete pumping process within a sewage pumping station rather than
directing attention to items of equipment. The innovatory
(patented) features of the Retroflo system allow characteristics of
pumps (power, torque and current) to be monitored across the full
range of wet-well levels and pump speeds. No other available system
adopts this approach, nor has the capacity for control to provide
optimal performance.
The
new control system has been developed with the support of
Northumbrian Water through Byzak’s Minor Works framework contract
for Pumping Station Refurbishment.

Byzak Northwest
Office Secure UU Framework
Byzak has secured its first framework with United Utilities
The Minor Works Alliance Framework (Northwest) is initially for a 2
year period to 2010, with the possibility of extensions to 5 years.
Byzak, one of four
appointed contractors, has been assigned the Manchester area. Harry
Kaye has been appointed as the Framework Manager with Peter Robinson
as Contracts Manager.
The work will involve civil engineering, and mechanical and
electrical engineering to be carried out across the full range of
United Utilities facilities, broadly similar to Byzak's current
Minor Works/SVCP frameworks with Northumbrian Water and Scottish
Water.
Harry Kaye commented: "This appointment is important for the future development of
Byzak North West and aligns well with predicted future water
industry workload needs for multi-disciplinary teams to improve the
efficiency of existing assets."

Byzak are providing Plant Services in the Alps
Byzak
are providing Plant Services to Nacap B.V. and ICOP (JV) for
the construction of a gas line from Tarvisio area to southern
village of Malborghetto by SNAM Rete Gas. The
Project includes the replacement of an existing DN900 (36”) line
with a new DN1220 (48") line to increase the transport capacity for
gas imported from Russia.
The
pipeline starts right at the border with Austria and near the border
with Slovenia; this feature led to name this area as “Dreilaender
Ecke”; the route runs through a dense forestry land which is a
protected area. In order to cause the minimum disturbance to the
environment a significant part of the 19,7 Km pipeline will be
inserted in the 7 so called “microtunnels”..
Byzak are
providing an upsized AVN 2000D Tunnelling Machine along with a
specialist operations team.
